A lot of cultures use fire to cleanse and renew, as is evident in the customs and traditions of many people. It is still used today all around the world as a way to get past fears and negative beliefs. Fire rituals can be used to help you as well. This is not a quick fix, but a process that requires time, reflection, and being willing to work on yourself - but it’s definitely worth the effort. This ritual will be helped along by the presence of a fire pit.
Begin by choosing a life area that you feel less than adequate in. It can be love, family, money or career or any other area. Now write down what it is that is bothering you. Examples of this include “I am a failure in love”, “I am not worthy of having love.” After you do this, you have to get these negative thoughts out of your sight. Get the fire put started in your backyard. Once the fire is burning, take that list of negative opinions about yourself that you’ve written and throw it into those flames. At the same time, concentrate on releasing those negativity feeling from your life.
Although fire is commonly thought of as a source of destroying, it can also be a source of beauty. A flame has a diverse effect. We roast marshmallows over an open flame to enjoy the memories and company on a camping trip; light candles to set a mood; or sit in front of a fire to chase the chill away. The way you can use your fire pit to recognize your beauty is simple. Sit in front of the fire along with a pencil and a notebook. As you watch the flames dance and change through their myriad colors, thing of all the unique things about yourself, no matter how minute. Let it inspire you to write a list in your journal about all the positive attributes about you. Look at the list often and add to it as time passes to improve your self esteem.
